Detoxing your body is vital for any diet plan or life change. This is especially true, if you have been eating a poor diet and not exercising for some time. When you start a detox plan you may be looking at simply juicing or something similar. The trick to this, if you choose to do it, is to stick to fruits and vegetables for your juicing that are considered superfoods. This will give you the biggest bang for your time and will help detox your body in many ways. Here are some of those superfoods.

Lemon

Lemon is a hands-down must-have if you are trying to detox your body with superfoods. Lemon is loaded with vitamins and can help deliver antioxidants to the body. When drank as a warm tea in the morning, by mixing with water and a small amount of honey for taste, you can boost your metabolism which will help you lose weight. It can also be used as an appetite suppressant. Lemons act as a natural energizer. The best way I found to drink water with lemon is to purchase a water bottle with an infuser. You just cut up the lemon and put it in the infuser and it helps to cut down on the pieces of lemon and seeds that get into your water. You can add other citrus fruits to the mix too for a refreshing drink.

Green Tea

Green tea is something you can easily add to your juices and detox. It has multiple benefits as a superfood and is used commonly in weight loss and Asian based weight loss plans. You can choose to brew the green tea and add it, use it in a very pure form of matcha powder added to your juices or smoothies, or use it as a straight tea mixed with juice. Green tea also helps with liver function and cleansing which is essential in detoxing. You may choose to add a little honey or lemon to help the taste.  I tend to add a little something to my green tea because it is too bland for me.

Beetroot can be easily added to both fruit and vegetable-based juices. It has a slightly sweet flavor so it can mix easily. If you are making a vegetable-based juice you can add not only the beetroot but you can also add the beet greens for an added boost. The beetroot is known for cleansing the liver and the colon. You can look at beetroot as a sort of all-purpose cleansing superfood that delivers vitamins and nutrients to your body as well as flushing out the bad and built-up toxins in your system.  If you do not like beets (I know I don’t) you can get this in powder form and add to smoothies or your juices.

Oranges

Oranges are known for their immune-boosting properties and assistance as a superfood. It goes without saying that during a detox you will need to boost your immune system as much as possible. Though considered by some to be a superfood and others to simply be a vitamin-packed fruit, it is still something to consider as part of your normal detox plan and juicing. This is another one of those fruits you can add to your infuser to make a nutrient-rich drink.  As I mentioned earlier a water bottle with an infuser is a great way to get these immune-boosting drinks in.

 

Remember, you want to use as many superfoods as you can per juice or smoothie session. You can do this with fresh fruit and vegetables as well as adding capsules and powders.
